The Update

So what's new?

1 -- It feels great to not be a slave to the blog!

2 -- We have spent more hours outside in the cool, comfortable air than I can count. Man, I love fall!



3 -- Evan got a much-needed hair trimming. And so did I.

4 -- We've been taking regular Night Walks in the wagon -- jammies on, no shoes (they love that part), lots of blankets and off we go! Chloe loves to look for the moon ;-)

5 -- We made mud in the front yard again and got really messy.





6 -- Chloe found and held her first caterpillar.

7 -- The kids have been into making tents, forts and pillow piles every day.

8 -- Chloe's feet have finally grown! Hello size 5!!

9 -- Kitties are happier with Frontline flea treatments (no more wasted money on flea collars that don't work).

10 -- I am successfully weaning Chloe from nursing (since she turned two) and now at bedtime we do family cuddles and books on our bed. She's down to nursing only 2x a day (it was 4x) -- Almost done!!

11 -- We've seen Aunt Brook and her boys a lot over the last couple weeks! I never imagined I could actually be "friends" with Brook when we were kids... funny how things change.


12 -- Chloe lost her sunglasses. At Target I think. Now the wind blows her hair into her eyes and she's not so happy about that.

13 -- And she still loathes a camera pointed in her direction -- "Don't picture me mommy!"

Random stuff with no photo to go along with it:

*Chloe has figured out how to climb into and out of her crib by herself (of course, not without much drama and whining!)

*Evan picks out his own outfits in the morning now.

*Chloe RUNS everywhere usually right after saying "I be white back!"

*Kids have been fighting with each other way more than I ever thought was possible.

*We've been teaching Chloe her full name, but she doesn't like it. We say "Your name's Chloe Elise Monde" and she whines "Noooo! I no wike A-wees" (meaning 'I don't like Elise') or she'll say "I not A-wees Monday, I Cwo-ee" (meaning 'I'm not Elise Monde, I'm Chloe'). She's finally made peace with it and will say the whole thing when we ask. She knows Evan's too :-)

*Todd finished the barn project in North East that he has been working on ALL summer. Leave a comment here to remind him to do a post of pictures!!

*Chloe's most commonly used phrases are "I keepin do it!" (meaning 'I can't do it!') and the word "wibbit" -- as in "I wibbit sad" or "It's a wibbit bwoken" -- (meaning 'a little bit')

*I made almost $350 selling the kids' used clothes on ebay in 4 weekends :-)

"Mom, me and Chloe are going out back to play together"

Life is full of new and wonderful moments ;-)

Yesterday

After a perfectly lovely morning spent entirely outdoors...

... We went to Connie's for our last ice cream cone outing of the summer.

And rode home just in time for bed.

A Break

I have reached a new season with this blog. I think it is time for a break of sorts (all bloggers seem to do this at some point).

I will probably drop back to posting once or twice a week. Most likely Monday and Friday. ('After the weekend' post and a 'Recap of the week' post.) Anything in between will be extras. You'll just have to scroll down the page here to see if you've missed something.

It was fun doing it everyday for a while. It got me looking at the good things in each day, and in some way, was part of my healing from post-partum depression.

Family time has taken on a different level of priority here in the past few weeks and blogging has been nothing but a chore to me. So, there you have it. I feel the need to explain everything (as a good friend pointed out to me years and years ago). I know no one's life revolves around this blog anyway :-)

Windy Sunday

The wind was blowing at over 25 mph while we were out playing after dinner last night.
The clouds were gray and covered the sky.
Poor Evan almost blew away.
Just kidding, of course, but the picture looked hilarious -- doesn't it look like he just splatted on there?
(The sky was not nearly so ominous as it ended up in the photo, my camera flash actually darkened everything.)
I thought it was funny :-)

Anyway, back to the real story...
Lots of swinging!

And climbing... Todd was all over the playground :-)
